The Tyranny of the FDA

FDA agents showed up at Wyldewood Cellars Winery near Mulvane, KS. They seized and locked up bottles of elderberry juice concentrate. Owner John Brewer said he received a letter from the FDA about five years ago. It accused him of being in violation of federal law because he claimed the concentrate prevents, treats, and cures illnesses like AIDS, diabetes, and flu. Brewer said he changed the label to read: “This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.” But that did not stop the FDA. (Source: Natural Health Dossier, 7/9/11).

WYLDEWOOD CELLARS STATEMENT

Re: FDA Actions Regarding the Marketing of Elderberry Juice Concentrate

June 6, 2011

There are absolutely no claims by the Food and Drug Administration that drinking elderberry juice concentrate causes any health concerns.

However, the FDA has complained that the labeling and advertising of Wyldewood Cellars Juice Concentrate does not meet federal guidelines for this product. We are immediately addressing the FDA's concerns by:

  • Revising all our advertising efforts to comply with FDA regulations

  • Changing the labels on all juice concentrate packages to conform with FDA-required wording

  • Meeting with FDA consultants to review and affirm our compliance efforts

We anticipate this process will go smoothly and expect to be in full FDA compliance very soon.

While we undergo this compliance process, we invite you to check out our other elderberry products.

We apologize for any inconvenience, but assure you the very same juice concentrate you enjoy will be available again shortly.

We will post updates on this website as they become available, so please check back frequently for more information. Thank you for your support of Wyldewood Cellars. (Source: www.WyldewoodCellars.com, 7/11/11).)

My email to Wyldewood Cellars:

I am someone who has been researching the actions of the FDA, after having survived cancer through non-toxic alternative means, and by discovering the connection between the FDA and Big Pharma, I also survived the “cancer industry.”

I am outraged by the actions of the FDA in raiding your company and I want to say that I support the rights of companies to advertise and label the beneficial effects of natural substances. I am shocked that the FDA still carries on gestapo tactics in this day and age in America.

I have read your statement, and I understand that you have to concede to their pressure or lose a product line. However, we all, in this country need to stand up to the FDA. They are killing us all, not only by approving chemotherapies and other harmful drugs, but by suppressing natural substances and censoring information about natural substances.

Best of luck to you against the tyranny of the FDA.

Sincerely,

Margaret
